Seafood Picnic

Before having the picnic, the children learned the parts of any sea creature through a family project based on the the child's favourite sea creature. A family project is work done by the parent and child together as shown here :
A family project 'Shark'.

For the picnic, we asked the parents to contribute food that came from the 'SEA'. These are some of the food -
crab meat, crab meat balls, tuna sandwiches, fish cakes, crab sticks, grilled fish, noodles with prawns, prawn & fish crackers and much more ! Parents were very supportive and contributed so many types of sea food.
And fruits too!
The class of J3 made a crown of sea creatures for the picnic. A warm-up session before the picnic!
Some had their picnic out of the class - on the lawn or any where outside! Before eating, the children discussed the various types of sea food products and the sources ~ is it from the fish, crab, prawn or squid?
Eating out on the lawn was fun and food tasted nicer too!
The younger ones had their main course of sea food indoors but later on, had their snacks of fish & prawn crackers outside.
A parent giving a hand. Fish porridge was a favourite of the younger children . They also loved the fish and prawn crackers. The crown of sea creatures.
These are some of the things that the children found out :

This activity helps the children to understand that fish, prawns, crabs and squids are food from the sea and they can be processed into many different products of food.
