Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. In the month of Ramadan, Muslims all over the world will fast from sunrise to sunset. Fasting this Ramadan will start on Monday, 1st August 2011. This is a favourite song of the children.

Perjumpaan Ibubapa Guru 2011 dan Mendidik Anak

Perjumpaan Ibubapa Guru (Parent-Teacher's Meeting) dijalankan pada 24-25 Jun untuk berkongsi maklumat serta maklumbalas mengenai perkembangan anak-anak setelah 5 bulan berada di Tadika. Selain daripada itu, perjumpaan ini juga memberi peluang kepada ibubapa untuk memberi pandangan, berkongsi maklumat dan lain-lain perkara. Kami amat menghargai maklumbalas yang positif dan membina daripada ibubapa untuk memperbaiki lagi Tadika.
Bahasa Inggeris masih merupakan bahasa utama di Tadika dan akan dikekalkan untuk memberi pendedahan asas Bahasa Inggeris pada peringkat awal. Pengetahuan atau penguasaan Bahasa Inggeris akan memberi satu kelebihan (advantage) kepada pelajar terutama sekali apabila dewasa dan bekerja. Bahasa Melayu akan digunakan untuk mata pelajaran Matematik dan Sains di sekolah rendah mulai tahun 2012. Sebagai persediaan untuk perubahan ini, masa pembelajaran untuk Sains dan Matematik dalam Bahasa Melayu juga ditambah mulai tahun ini. Buku laporan dan hasil kerja kanak-kanak disediakan untuk dilihat atau dikaji oleh ibubapa semasa perjumpaan.
MENDIDIK ANAK


DIDIKLAH ANAK DARI PERINGKAT AWAL . Ibubapa merupakan GURU PERTAMA DAN UTAMA pada peringkat awal anak-anak sehingga baligh. Anak-anak banyak belajar daripada ibubapanya. Ibubapa juga merupakan orang yang dapat mempengaruhi anaknya, menjadi perangsang atau pemangkin kepada anak dalam pelbagai aspek perkembangan anaknya.


Seorang anak akan menunjukkan perkembangan yang positif dan cepat sekiranya ada penglibatan, galakan dan perhatian ibubapa dalam pendidikannya dari semua aspek : akademik, sosioemosi, kemahiran motor halus dan motor kasar, kreativiti, sikap, agama, nilai-nilai baik, kemahiran hidup, dan lain-lain.


Disiplin amat penting dalam mendidik anak pada peringkat awal, di tadika dan sekolah rendah. Disiplin bererti membuat apa yang kena buat, membuat pada masa yang kena buat (iaitu mewujudkan rutin harian), membuat dengan bersungguh-sungguh, dan lebih kepada memberi ganjaran dari hukuman.


Tentukan rutin harian : waktu solat, bangun tidur, belajar, menonton TV, main 'computer games', makan, mandi, dan lain-lain. Rutin juga termasuk : menyimpan buku selepas membaca, meletak baju kotor ke dalam bakul, menyimpan kasut di rak kasut, menyimpan mainan selepas bermain dan lain-lain. Anak-anak lebih senang diurus sekiranya berdisiplin iaitu ada rutin dan peraturan yang jelas.Cuba libatkan anak-anak dalam mengendalikan kerja-kerja rumah yang mudah, bersuaian dengan umur atau kebolehan anak-anak. Selain dari melatih anak-anak dalam kemahiran hidup, peluang ini boleh digunakan untuk mengajar ~ nama objek, mengira, sains, dan lain-lain. Bekerja bersama anak juga merupakan satu peluang untuk merapatkan hubungan ibubapa dan anak.
Memang penat dan amat menguji untuk ibubapa melayan serta memberi perhatian pada anak-anak, lebih-lebih lagi sekiranya kedua ibubapa bekerja. Ibu dan bapa perlu berkerja sebagai satu pasukan dan membentuk suasana harmoni ~ buat rutin untuk mengurus masa dengan anak, membuat kerja rumah dan rehat. Anak adalah amanah dari Allah SWT dan ianya sebahagian dari ujian Allah SWT kepada kita hamba-hambaNya. Pemakanan juga satu aspek yang penting dan menentukan kesihatan anak di masa depan. Beri makanan yang berkhasiat dan seimbang. Galakkan anak makan sayur-sayuran dan buah-buahan. KURANGKAN makanan proses atau 'instant', berbagai keropok atau makanan ringan, gula-gula, berbagai jeruk, minuman manis dan lain-lain. Masa berlalu dengan cepat dan zaman kanak-kanak tidak akan kembali lagi. Jadi JANGAN LEPASKAN PELUANG INI untuk mendidik, mengasuh dan melatih anak-anak menjadi seorang yang bijak, baik dan sihat. Jangan menyesal di hari tua kerana tidak memberi perhatian, penglibatan dan tumpuan semasa anak-anak memerlukan kita di zaman kanak-kanak mereka. Marilah kita memperbanyakkan ibadah dan doa agar anak menjadi seorang insan yang baik, soleh, berilmu, bertaqwa, beramal dan menghormati ibubapa. Berdoalah agar kita mendapat kekuatan, kesabaran, bimbingan serta hidayah dari Allah SWT dalam menjalankan tugas mendidik anak-anak.

Visit To Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Berhad

On Wednesday, 19 July 2011 Junior 3 made a visit to Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Berhad to learn how books, magazines, calendars, posters and other printed materials are made. This is one of our Reading Month activity. The children were very excited and looked forward to this trip. The group of Junior 3, teachers and parents with the staff of PNMB. This is a very important photo ~ the PNMB showed the children how posters were printed using this photo as an example. Every child was given a copy of this photo as a momento of this visit. Very nice of PNMB , thank you very much! That's the printed photos of the photo taken in front of the building. The children were in awe when these posters were 'processed, developed and printed' . Thank you Mr. Micheal Tanjong for giving the children this amazing experience and a most memorable gift to take home. The children and teachers recieved by the Manager of PNMB, Mr. Micheal Tanjong. Batik Fun Walk 2011

Batik Fun Walk 2011 was organised by Pustaka Miri with the support of Miri City Council. The event was held on Saturday, 16 July starting from Miri City Fan and flagged off by YB Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister of Communications & Sports. The event started off at 7.oo am. Groups were judged for their creativity, sportmanship and teamwork while parading in BATIK or batik theme.

A total of twenty participants (teachers, parents and their families) from our school joined in. Although it rained early in the morning, it did not dampen the spirits of our team and we all went home with many prizes ! Thank you to all parents who have joined in this event!

Sarawak Cultural Performance

Pustaka Miri organised 3 days Sarawakiana Carnival at its venue from 24-26 June 2011 with the objectives of promoting the cultures and heritage of Sarawak. Some of the main activities held were 'Bermukun' competition, Children Traditional Costume Competition, Cultural Showcases, Sarawak Traditional Food Cooking Demonstrations, Sarawak Arts Exhibition, Batik Workshop, Sarawak Famous Layered Cake Workshop, Cultural Forums, My Favourite Read Session with celebrities, Children Cultural Performance and many more. The carnival attracted some 3,000 visitors. The opening ceremony was held together with the launching of the latest two Sarawakiana Series collection ~ 'People of the Forest: The Penan' and 'Pusau Ngalang Anak : The Kenyah Naming Ritual'.

We took part in the Children Cultural Performance and presented a local Sarawak Malay song 'Pantun Mensia' which means 'Pantun of the old days'. The Cultural performance was on Saturday, 26 June 2011 at the Auditorium, Pustaka Miri. Twenty Junior 3 children were selected and another 8 were chosen as the Orang Ulu. The performance was choreographed by Ms. Ann, Asisstant Ms Syakila with the rest of Junior 3 teachers. The rest of the teachers assisted the children with the costumes on that day. Will try to put up the video clip in the next post.

And so were the boys ! One of our lead singers ~ Ariff Aqlan. On the stage - lead singers Angelina Sarah and Qarin Nabihah. The group wearing traditional Malay costume. The final performance was the song 'Satu Malaysia' by all the children from the various kindergartens.
