Eating The Sunnah Way

The teacher with the tray of  fruits.
We visited this Islamic kindergarten in Perth, Australia in 2009.    One of the Sunnah practiced in the school was to eat the fruits before the main food.  Every day, the children brought in fruits which were then collected by the teachers, washed, cut into small pieces and then put on a big tray.  At break time, the tray of fruits would be served on each table and shared by all children.  After all the fruits were eaten, the children would be allowed to eat other food they brought to school!    To me, there are other learning benefits for the children ~ they learned the names of different kinds of fruits, tasted a variety of fruits,  the concept of sharing, developed patience and discipline as they waited for the teachers to serve the fruits and perhaps many more.  Children also developed self-confidence as they were happy and proud to contribute the fruits ~ reflecting the parents' involvement in their children's growth and development.  An easy way to get blessings from Allah SWT and tons of other benefits for the children, teachers and parents.
Can you see the fruits piled up behind the bottles?
Waiting for the fruits.
