J3 Making Onde-Onde

November 11, 2013 ~  we made a traditional cake called Onde-Onde.
Weigh out the glutinous rice flour.
'Gula Melaka' - sugar from coconut tree for the filling. This sugar is a traditional sweetener for local cakes and similar to brown sugar.
Smelling the pandan leaves -  give a nice smell to the cakes.
These are pandan leaves boiled in water.  The scented greenish water is used to make the dough.
Add the pandan water and a few drops of green food colouring.
The dough.
Roll into small balls, flattened and placed a little gula melaka.
Rolled into balls.
Put the balls in boiling water.  Caution : ONLY carried out by teachers .

Finely grated fresh coconut for coating the balls.
Roll the cooked balls in the coconut.
Done and ready to eat.
