Safety helmets, tool box, toy cars and machines
In the theme ' Big Machines and Construction',  children learned about about big machines involved in construction such as :  bulldozer,  dump trucks, front loader, back hoe loader, etc  and some of the tools used in construction :  hammers, screw drivers, saw, etc.  They also learned safety and clothes used when working on site.

A group of 'workers' off to the site.

Painting the boxes before 'constructing' into buildings.
A group of  'workers' trying to clear debris from a site.

Fixing the stairs of the slide hut.

After the paint job,  the children were divided into groups to construct a building.  Other materials used were empty tin cans, plastic bottles, bowls, paper cups.   See the pictures below of the buildings designed and constructed by the children.

The out come of these learning activities are many.  Some are :  vocabulary - names of the different vehicles or machines involved in construction,  names of tools, action words, tools and clothing;  how machines work and safety, maths - shapes, concept of big and small, problem solving, team work and creativity.   Children had a lots of fun and you can be sure ~  this activity will be the beginning or the first step of a future engineer, architect and manager!
