Spider Buns

Junior 3 did a theme on 'SPIDERS' last month. One of the learning activity was a simple cookery class ~ making SPIDER BUNS! Here's what you need :

Buns - for the body
Smarties for the eyes.

Chocolate sticks for the legs.
Chocolate spread to cover the bun.

Some of the objectives of this activity were to learn:
1. Body parts of spiders.
2. Maths : spiders have 2 eyes, 8 legs.
3. Fine motor skills development.
4. Creativity.
5. Food preparation.

Step 1 : Cover the buns with chocolate spread. The following photos show the children hard at work - spreading the chocolate over the buns. Not an easy feat for some of the children.

Step 2 : Stick the Smarties on top of the chocolate-coated bun - these are the eyes.
Step 3: Stick in the chocolate sticks for the legs.

The children counted the sticks and to put 4 sticks on each side of the bun (learning maths and body parts).
The completed 'Spider Bun'. Looks GOOD & YUMMY!
See the rest of the 'Spider Buns'.

The children loved the cookery class. It is a very good activity to learn science, maths and many more. The best part of all ~ you get to eat it! No problem with this one, the 'Spider Buns' were a hit with the children! Try this at home.
