J2 Visit To Fire Station

Junior 2 did a theme on 'Safety' in July. One of the topics covered in this theme was 'Fire'. This theme is always a hit with the children because one of the activities they looked forward to is the visit to the Fire Station. On 21 July 2011, a bus-full of Junior 2, teachers and some parents made a visit to the Fire Station at Jalan Miri-Airport by-pass. Here we are, the class of J2 and teachers.

The officer greeting the children. In the control room. The children were showed what happens once a call is recieved.
Next, looking at the various parts of the fire engine and the things that are carried in the truck.
The fireman showing the things that are stowed in the fire engine and to be used in a fire.

The best is yet to come ..... a ride in the fire engine! The children were very excited and couldn't wait to get on the fire engine. That's Ms Grace in the front seat. Psssst ......... the teachers and parents were just as excited as the children to ride in the fire engine. It's not every day you get to ride in a fire engine.

The fire engine is very spacious and can accomodate about 8 children inside, including the fireman. There were lots of interesting things in the fire engine. The children were also given a chance to switch on the siren as they ride. The children were SOOOO thrilled! Look at the children - so excited, thrilled and happy to be in the fire engine (emmmm ..... that includes a parent sitting in the front) !
The fireman helping the children out of the fire engine.
The fireman showing parts of the fire extinguisher and how to use it.
Ms Grace learning the correct way to use the fire extinguisher to put out the fire.
Here's Ms Nurul Anissa putting out the fire. Using water to put out the fire. The fireman is showing the children how to handle or carry the hose. Isn't that nice - many small hands helping to carry the hose!
That's Ms Grace giving a hand too.
Another favourite with the children ~ putting on the fire man 's uniform.Imran presenting a 'THANK YOU' card to the officer at the fire station. Thank you for showing the children around and for accomodating the children's wishes.

THANK YOU!
