Book Character Day

BOOK CHARACTER DAY is one of our Reading Month activity. We asked parents to read with their children, find out what the children's favourite books were and which characters they liked. On Friday, 29th July ~ characters from comics and movies, fairy tales, etc came to school. The children brought their books along to show to the teachers and friends.

Spiderman ......or Spiderboy? The Little Girl Who Wanted Balloons!

'Show and Tell' ~ the children talked about the books and the characters.

Boys generally love characters from comics and movies ~ Ben 10 is a BIG Favourite!

Girls love fairy tales and most things princess-y, so there were many princesses in the school on that day. Yes, complete with tiaras!

Here 'Princess Nur Farah Dania' is showing her book to Ms Grace and the class.

On the left is Sultan Alauddin Shah, a character fom a Malay story and the other is King Midas. Note the gold necklace on King Midas!

Khalif Emir Show and Tell with Ms Ann. The bottom picture shows Aqil reading his book to his friends and teacher, Ms Syakila.

The 5 and 6 years old wrote the titles, authors and drew their favourite characters from the books.

Here's what the children wrote and drew:

A different book altogether ~ Nurul Ezza'ty is a big fan of Minnie Mouse, came to school as Minnie and made a book about Minnie Mouse!

That's the book!

The response to this activity was overwhelming and it is not possible to put up all the photos of characters that came to school that day. The children were seen talking to their friends about their characters, sharing their books and reading them together. Even the young ones spent some time looking through the pictures or photos in the books. We hope that this activity will continue to spur the children to read books, to express themselves through drawings or paintings and open up their imaginations. Without imaginations, stories would have not existed! Of course, we thank our wonderful parents for supporting this activity.
