A Royal Day

In conjunction with the coronation of the 14th King and Queen of Malaysia on the 11th April 2012, we did a special topic on this historical event by holding 'A Royal Day'. The objectives of this learning activity were : to recognise the14th King and Queen, their names, the royal colours, homes of King and Queen, the royal regalia, and the coronation ceremony.
We held 'A Royal Day' on Friday, 13 April 2012. All the children were encouraged to come to school dressed as King and Queen.
The Junior 1 girls were beautiful and looked 'regal' with their crowns, sash and gowns.
A King with all his 'awards' pin to his chest. The red cape on the King had the name of the Kingdom on it.
Junior 2 Kings and Queens.
The children brought newspaper cuttings, photos of the King and any other materials related to this event. The teachers and children looked and discussed the materials brought in and later the children were asked to draw the King and Queen. These are the children's versions of the King and Queen.
For art and craft.

These are the work done by the 6 year olds, they wrote the names of the King and Queen. Note the throne.
A mum donated these cupcakes with crowns for the children. It tasted as good as it looked! Thank you very much to you!
The teachers were a sport and dressed up too! It was indeed a special day and the children learned who the King and Queen were, their names and many more. Most important, they had an enjoyable learning experience! Thank you to all parents who supported this activity !
