Pustaka Miri organised 3 days Sarawakiana Carnival at its venue from 24-26 June 2011 with the objectives of promoting the cultures and heritage of Sarawak. Some of the main activities held were 'Bermukun' competition, Children Traditional Costume Competition, Cultural Showcases, Sarawak Traditional Food Cooking Demonstrations, Sarawak Arts Exhibition, Batik Workshop, Sarawak Famous Layered Cake Workshop, Cultural Forums, My Favourite Read Session with celebrities, Children Cultural Performance and many more. The carnival attracted some 3,000 visitors. The opening ceremony was held together with the launching of the latest two Sarawakiana Series collection ~ 'People of the Forest: The Penan' and 'Pusau Ngalang Anak : The Kenyah Naming Ritual'.

We took part in the Children Cultural Performance and presented a local Sarawak Malay song 'Pantun Mensia' which means 'Pantun of the old days'. The Cultural performance was on Saturday, 26 June 2011 at the Auditorium, Pustaka Miri. Twenty Junior 3 children were selected and another 8 were chosen as the Orang Ulu. The performance was choreographed by Ms. Ann, Asisstant Ms Syakila with the rest of Junior 3 teachers. The rest of the teachers assisted the children with the costumes on that day. Will try to put up the video clip in the next post.
