Eid ul-Adha In School

EIDIL UL-ADHA CELEBRATION IN SCHOOL
19 November 2010
It was a public holiday on Wednesday, 17 November 2010 for the Eidil ul-Adha celebration. We celebrated Eid Adha in a small scale in school as many of the children have gone off for the year end school holidays. We made greeting cards and learned about Eid Adha a week before ~ the dates and month in the Muslim calendar, the meaning of scarifice, the animals allowed for sacrifice, the story of Prophet Ibrahim and his son, the haj and so forth. We said out the Takbir every morning before we started class and before the children went home from Thursday to Friday.
Thank you very much to our parents who have generously gave some food to share with the children and teachers. May Allah SWT reward you with more rezeki and goodness. Jazakallah and Jazakillah khair!

Games Day

GAMES DAY
16 November 2010

Games Day was a day full of fun for all of us. We prepared several games and had every one to take part in a least one of the game. The games were 'choo-choo train race', walking with a bean bag on the head, eating hanging biscuits with no hands, looking for the letter in the flour, blowing up balloons till they burst and tug-of-war. There were no winners or losers on that day. The most important thing was that every child and teacher joined in the games and had a LOT OF FUN!

We started off the day with a warming-up session with the teachers leading the children.
Warming up session.
The 'Choo-choo train race' - running with your friends holding on to you, required teamwork and sychronize running to run without being 'derailed'! There were 'casualties' but it was fun!
Biscuits were hung from a string and to ensure it's hands-free, all hands in the trousers! Took the children a while to eat the biscuits. Some simply have to savour the biscuits while others gobbled them up in a jiffy!
See, hands-free eating !

Walking along the line while balancing the bean bag on the head ~ hands free too ! But teachers were on hand to pick up bags that have fallen off, so nobody was disqualified!
Bean bag handed over to the next child and GO!

The next game was 'Letters in the flour'. The children had to blow the flour to look for the letters of the alphabet in the plates and pick them up with the mouths. There's one letter in a plate.

Picking up the letter now!

Got it! A face of pure joy for Hazami when he found the letter! Now, its the teachers turn to play this game. It was more challenging, they have to find 3 letters in the flour. Here's Ms Fasha and her class cheering her on.
Nenek Hj. Fatimah ~ our Quran teacher showing her 3 letters! A sporting granny!
Blow the balloon till it burst! A game for the fearless! And the first to burst the balloon is the winner!
Tug-of-war ~ the favourite game of the children! The rules were adhered to before the whistle blew, then it was a mad rush to help your friends or your favourite teachers.
You can still pull the rope even after the whistle blew, just when you thought you have won! So there were no winners or losers.

A tiring but an enjoyable day for every one!
