2011 Ramadan Charity Jar

Here is the receipt of our collection from our Ramadan Charity Jar to Tabung Anak Yatim (Orphanage Fund), Masjid Darul Ehsan.

Thank you to all our parents for your support and contribution in making this charity drive an overwhelming success.

J3 Visit to Darul Istiqamah Mosque

Masjid Darul Istiqamah, Luak.

These are some of the work done by the children after visiting the mosque. The teachers compiled all the children's drawings and writings into a book. Besides learning and doing the Islamic practices, the children also learned to observe, record, draw, write, count and interact with their friends (social skills).

Ramadan Activities 2011

The objectives of the Ramadan activities were to educate the children the importance of the month of Ramadan, to carry out deeds or activities that are encouraged and rewarded; and for us, teachers ~ to seek Allah 's blessings and barakah as we impart knowledge and teach the children. We pray that the children will benefit from this and be good Muslims as they grow into adults. Amin.

1. VISIT TO MASJID DARUL ISTIQAMAH, LUAK , Wednesday, 17 August 2011 Masjid Darul Istiqamah, Luak

Learning to take the ablution (wuduk) for solat sunat masjid.

After solat, the children were asked to observe the different parts in the mosque : mihrab, mimbar, ladies section, dome, etc and things that are found in side. Here the children counted and recorded the number of doors.

2. RAMADAN CAMP, SATURDAY 20 AUGUST 2011
This is our third Ramadan Camp.

3. Ramadan Charity Jar
We launched the Charity Jar collection drive from 1st Ramadan to be donated to Tabung Anak Yatim ( Orphans Fund ), Masjid Darul Ehsan

Every day, the children would put in some money into the jar. The above photo shows Irfan handing over RM1176.00 to Tuan Hj. Talhah Mansor, Chairman of the committee of the Tabung Anak Yatim, witnessed by the other committee members, teachers and children ~ on 20 August 2011 at Masjid Darul Ehsan.

4. Hafalan of Short Surahs
To encourage the children to 'read' the Al-Quran, we increased our recitation of the short Surahs in school and at home.
Our deepest appreciation and thanks to our parents who have supported, contributed and worked with us to make these activities a success; contributed their man power to make our activities run smoothly.

Theme : Safety

In this theme, one of the topics covered was 'FIRE'. Here is a 'pantun' with a message that fire is useful but dangerous when it becomes big.

The children learned about fire engines or fire trucks and this is one of the book used.

Fireman : - people involved in this 'fire 'business' and what they do.

Crafts made in this topic. The most exciting part of this topic was the visit to the fire station.

Road safety was another topic covered in this theme. The children learned about road signs, traffic lights, what they should do when they are in the car :- eg. to put on the seat belts, do not play in the car or put your head, hands out of the car window when the car is moving, etc.

Special vehicles that are used to help people eg. the ambulance.

Traffic games : learning to read the road signs and road safety at the 'Traffic Garden' Bulatan Park. The children brought their bicycles along. Tiring but the children had a good time.

Some of the topics covered was 'How to deal with strangers', "Playing safely in the park" and "Safety at home".

The children recorded things that are dangerous, that they should not play with.

And a poem to go with 'Safety in the kitchen' ~ 'I'm a little teapot'.

This is a group work. The teapots and writing were done by the children.

Fun Library Activity at Miri Public Library

As part of our Reading Month activity, we did a reading activity at Miri Public Library for the public. The Library is an important building or room in a child's life. It is where he/she may learn to love books and reading. By incorporating fun library activities, we hope to increase the children's chances of associating reading and books with fun.

Miri Public Library holds children activity every Saturday, open to all children and admission is free. Children activity in the last Saturday of the month will be undertaken by a kindergarten or primary school on a voluntary basis.

We started off our show with 'STORY TIME' by reading this book :

'I'm a caterpillar' ~ Our theme centered on the butterfly and its life cycle.

The children learned the various stages in the life cycle of a butterfly.

We had songs to go with the theme. Here, we are singing 'Dari Ulat Jadi Kepompong' with finger play. The other song was 'Butterfly, Fly Butterfly'.
For the extension activities, the children made the various stages of the butterfly. The book was the reference. Here the children are making the pupa, trying to follow closely the colours of the pupa as in the book.

Shredded papers were stuffed inside the 'pupa case'.

The eggs were laid on the leaves. This boy not only placed the eggs on the leaves but drew the veins on the leaves, a detail he observed.

Parents came along to assist their children.

Making the butterflies ~ from plastic spoons and crepe papers. To decorate the 'wings', the children finger print the paper with colourful paints. For the caterpillars, the children glued together the ready-cut round coloured papers, the legs, feelers and drew the eyes.

The teachers gathered all the craftwork done and used them to brighten up the children section in the library. This is also a good way to display the children's work!
