Miri City Tour

May 20th is Miri City Day.  Some of the activities associated with Miri City Day special theme,  we learned the symbols associated with Miri -  the Periwinkle, flower of Miri City,   the Grand Old Lady and the Sea horse.  We took the children for a city tour to see the important buildings,  famous land marks of Miri and to spot how many 'sea horse'  we can see around the city.

These are some of the land marks of Miri that we saw:
Taman Bulatan

Dewan Suarah - it's designed like an oil -drilling platform.

The Grand Old Lady at Canada Hills.   The first oil well in Miri.

The history of Miri  ~  from a small fishing village to the present city that we know.  The history is depicted in the murals around the Grand Old Lady.

The biggest sea horse is actually a light house, situated at the river mouth facing the sea.

Other places of interest:
Taman Awam

The children said this is a family of sea horses - the father, mother and baby sea horses.  All the tails are curved inwards.  Located at one of the roundabout.
