Boats, boats, boats! - one of the topics under the theme 'Transport'. These are some of their learning experiences:
Origami boats. Can boats can float ? Some boats did float, but some (as you can see from the photo) - sank!
Some children can't resist the water. So, into the pool with the boats! A small pool for those who did not like to get their feet wet (initial response).
Besides learning that boats are a type of transportation, the children learned the properties of water, concepts of sink and float. The best part of all ~ the children ENJOYED playing in the water with their friends. (FYI, all the three girls in the above photo also ended up in the water - can't resist the temptation !)
We did a special topic on 'Grandparents' in September in conjunction with 'GRANDPARENT'S DAY'. All the children were asked to bring photos of their grandparents, from the maternal and paternal side. When we asked for the names of their grandparents ~ these are some of them : Nek Tok, Nek Aji, Atok, Nenek, Nek Lan, Nek Mah, Nek Laki, Nek Perempuan, Pak Nek, Mak Nek and many more. In this exercise, we asked the children to find out the 'real' names of their grandparents and talked with their parents to find out which are the maternal & paternal grandparents. Most children knew that grandparents were parents of their parents and they are special people. Then we discussed how we should care for them. We also read stories about grandparents to illustrate how special they are and their importance in our lives.
These are SOME of the drawings of the grandparents.
